Daniel Island, SC Charleston Single Homes

Charleston SC classic single style homes are very popular styles on Daniel Island, SC.  The classic Charleston single features a narrow floor plan and large piazzas located either on the front or on the sides of the house. Rumors popular with locals in Downtown Charleston is that they were built narrowly because property an owners real estate taxes were based on how much street frontage a home occupied. The narrower the house, the less one would pay in taxes. There are of course many historians and tour guides alike that debate the truth to this discussion.

Tour guides showing the city frequently discuss the large piazzas, and how the large windows were opened to accommodate the warm summer breezes.
